CROP REPORT

The 2011 blueberry season is coming to an end.

The field will close for the year at 4 P.M. Saturday, August 27th.

The crop this year was much smaller than last year's yield and demand for the tasty berries was increased. Many customers of all ages came to pick their own berries and our faithful crew of hired pickers filled pre-picked orders for many more. Picking began on July 25th and continued 6 days per week until now. The berries seemed to be extra flavourful this year and were enjoyed by all.

Please check this space about mid-July of 2012 for information about our next crop.

Local Healthy Food

Visit our farm to harvest or buy local fruit at its peak of flavour and freshness. Blueberries are one of the best human health foods. They are laden with antioxidants which help to prevent a number of age-related and other disease conditions. Blueberries are also great for fresh eating and are easy to freeze.

Picking Your Own Berries

Save money and enjoy the satisfaction of harvesting these wonderful berries yourself. Plan to come picking several times each season and allow at least several hours per visit so that you can harvest enough berries to enjoy  year round. Picking blueberries is a great way to enjoy a day in the country especially if you bring a friend. Baskets fill within a few feet of row. Visit our farm to escape the noise and rush of traffic. Enjoy the peaceful beauty and catch glimpses of some of our wild creatures. Dress for the weather and bring your lunch to enjoy in our shaded sitting area.

Pre-picked Berries

Pre-picked berries are available for sale from the farm beginning in late July and throughout the month of August as weather conditions and labour availability permit. The berries are hand-picked and cleaned, ready for fresh eating, jam or freezing.

Be sure to call the farm before visiting to check open hours and berry supply on the day you plan to come. Conditions beyond our control can affect our harvest.
